My name is Dan Goodwin, I live in Oxford, England. I work as a web developer for a company called White October but this log is about the stuff I do outside of work.

I've been doing various creative/technology things for fun for a long time now either for myself or for family and friends. I only thought to record the projects I'd worked on and the relevant courses I'd been attending fairly recently. At first, I was just sticking these into a text document. Then I thought I could actually do a bit of development work and get a log of these projects up on the web to help keep track of what I'd done myself and also to point others to to let them know the sort of things that I enjoy getting involved in.

Since my day job is web development, I struggle to sit down and do it in the evenings and weekends too. Plus, I was using it as an opportunity to learn some PHP and MySQL. So it's taken me far too long to get even the first version up on the web. But it's here now. There's plenty more to do - a vaguely prioritised list is below:

  • Get the first version live on the web.
  • Get either a contact me page or an email address which is obfuscated from spambots so that people can contact me if they have a project I could get involved with.
  • Sort out some anti-caching headers on the dynamic pages.
  • Open up the project log to robots, sort out the metadata.
  • Put a limit on the number of log entries on the index (all categories) page.
  • Sort out some administration pages for myself so that I don't have to make database changes to add/alter log items.
  • Sort out the design a bit. It's pretty dull and uses a table - just the one, mind - to get the two column layout (tut tut).
